40K Tournament Rankings 2007
How and why the Australasian Tournament Rankings are calculated
Warhammer tournaments are regularly held to allow players to come
together to enjoy their hobby. Tournaments in Australia are
normally judged not just on if you win and by how much, but also on
other criteria such as how well your army is painted, your degree of
sportsmanship and the composition of your army.
For some, part of the fun is either comparing your skills against
other players, or having bragging rights. Others may just like to
see their name on a list of the best players across Australia and New
Zealand. The Australasian Tournament Rankings (ATR) provide this,
showing how successful players have been.
The key thing to remember about these rankings is that this is a
seeding system and is not a measure of capability. It reflects how
successful players have been, not necessarily how good they are.
In 2007 there were 65 Warhammer 40K tournaments across Australia and New Zealand that
contributed to the Warhammer 40K Tournament Rankings. There were an
average of 34 players per event, with 1344 players in total taking part
in these 40K tournaments in 2007.
The most tournaments held in one region was the 16 events held in
Sydney with an average size of 28 players. The second most
tournaments held in one region was 8 events held in Melbourne with an
average size of 60 players. Three cities had 6 events:
Brisbane with an average size of 47 players, Wellington with an average
size of 29 players and Perth with an average size of 26 players.
There were 10 players who attended at least 10 events in the year,
with three players attending 15 events. There were 20 players who
attended at least seven events in 2007, and 179 players who attended at
least three events. Over 70% of the players only attended a single
40K tournament in 2007
