Choosing your War Band
SAGA games are nominally 6 points a side, though 4 points a side are recommended for new players. With each point the player can purchase 4 elite models, 8 warrior models or 12 levy models. Refer to the table below for a summary of the abilities of each type of model.

Note that Levies can always have missile weapons, but only some factions can provide missile weapons to Elite or Warrior models.
Bows, slings | 12" | range |
Crossbows | 12" | range; reduce owning players armour and enemy armour by 1 |
Javelins | 6" | range; use javelins as part of moving activation (at end of move) |
Composite Bows | 6" | range; shoot as part of moving activation (either before or after move) |
Double-handed axes | reduce owning players armour and enemy armour by 1 | |
Infantry | 6" |
movement; can fight 3 deep |
Mounted | 12" |

After purchasing the models, the player must organise them into units. A unit must be between 4 and 12 models of a single type. Thus you could 1 have point of Levies and make 2 units of 6 models, or could have 3 points of Elite and make one unit of 12 models.
